With that said, here are the Top 3 Easily Avoidable Installation Hiccups (All are fixable but can lead to added work and delays)
1. ADDING A LITTLE SLACK -Â Poly pipe which is highly recommended for well pump plumbing, will stretch under the weight of the pump and water. It can stretch up to 1 foot for every 100â of pipe (~1%) so youâll want to be sure to leave some slack in your wire (often called âdrop wireâ) that runs down alongside your poly pipe. This ensures your wire splice isnât pulled apart as your pipe stretches.
2. WIRE SPLICING -Â Your pumpâs wire connection will be submerged all its life, so spend a little extra time ensuring your crimps are solid. RPS completes half of this and pre-crimps your pump wires. Included adhesive lined heat-shrinks should be heated carefully so as to not burn, but allow the silicone sealant to come out the end and seal the connection. Many like to do this pump splice in their shop before heading out to the field. Labeling the three pump wires with the included 1,2,3 numbered stickers is easy indoors too.Â
3. SOLAR PANELS -Â Easy Plug-and-Play MC4 connectors make solar connections easy. Just use some muscle as they have a rubber gasket and need a bit of force. Be sure panels are wired just like the diagrams in your user manual shows - no improvising! Be sure your solar panels are free of all shade.
